Full Circle House

A modern residence reimagined with warmth, softness, and a sense of place. 

Designed for a young family with a love of entertaining, this newly constructed San Francisco home offers dramatic architecture and true indoor–outdoor living. Two structures joined by a central courtyard, with a spa framed by mature palms and lush tropical plantings, recall the wife’s Hawaiian upbringing and set the stage for gatherings: both intimate and social.

The homeowners discovered Interior Designer, Heidi Kim, through FORMA Construction, a luxury homebuilder in the Bay Area. In a fitting turn of events, FORMA was later selected as the general contractor for the redesign, completing the circle of collaboration. Although the home had strong bones, many of the spaces called for transformation. Heidi reimagined the primary bath entirely and redesigned the kitchen, dining room, and laundry to elevate both function and atmosphere. Across the residence, she softened the hard geometry of the modern shell, layering tactile finishes, painterly palettes, and sculptural furnishings. Rooted in her philosophy of livable elegance, Heidi’s approach is defined by contrast; rich against raw, tactile against smooth, vintage against modern. The result is a home that balances architectural drama with intimacy and warmth, a family residence that is both artful and deeply personal.
