Burlingame Residence with Kari McIntosh featured in CH&D

FORMA recently completed the renovation of this 4,000-square-foot Spanish colonial home in Burlingame with Designer Kari McIntosh.

Originally built in 1992, the home had good bones, but the interiors were unremarkable and had no “soul.” A series of recent haphazard remodels felt very heavy-handed and outdated. The neighborhood has a rich history, and the street is assumed to have been named after the first European explorer to navigate the coast of what became California. One of the client’s primary goals was to create a more Spanish/Mediterranean-style home to reflect this history.

Kari engaged FORMA Construction, and our team got to work. Taking special care to keep many of the original details intact, such as the stucco exterior and individual Spanish clay tile roof, the home’s exterior was meticulously restored to blend into the neighborhood’s fabric. A small shed was built on-site to accommodate a 400amp service upgrade for multiple Tesla usage, moving it from the original garage to create more storage. FORMA also installed a new copper roof and gutters on the shed to blend in and patina over time.

Together, our team transformed this Spanish-Colonial home back to its multi-cultural roots that the area is known for. Featured in California Home & Design.
