Some people find construction. Sean Spiers grew up inside it. His father built a career in real estate development the old-fashioned way, starting as a carpenter and eventually founding his own development company. The industry was a constant presence, and when the time came to chart his own path, the decision wasn’t hard.

Sean joined FORMA nine months ago as a Project Manager. On any given day, that means managing cost control, scheduling, contract administration, documentation, and field coordination, the work that keeps a complex project on track. He’s good at it, and he brings a builder’s instinct to logistics: an eye for sequencing, a feel for how downstream decisions affect on-site outcomes.

Ask Sean what drew him to FORMA, and he doesn’t go to the projects first, he goes to the people. “Everyone brings different attributes to the table,” he says, “but it is always a collaborative working process where everyone is truly willing to help others around them.” That culture, he notes, isn’t an accident. Most construction firms are structured around silos, and project managers head down on their own work, rarely surfacing to compare notes with colleagues. FORMA does something different. “FORMA does a great job of bringing employees together so you can hear the experiences others are dealing with on their projects.” It’s a small shift in structure with a real impact on how the team learns and grows.

His favorite project so far? Normandie Terrace – a job that reflects the kind of complexity FORMA is known for taking on with care.

When he’s not in the field or at his desk, you can find Sean on the golf course. He loves sports in most forms, and he spends a lot of time with friends and family, usually around food and a good table. He’s traveled to Florence, Italy (a favorite), and if he could learn one thing, it would be to play guitar. Oh, and he’s a native San Franciscan, something he notes with a bit of quiet pride in a city where that’s increasingly rare.

At FORMA, Sean brings discipline, collaborative instincts, and a deep familiarity with how buildings come together, from the ground up.
