Dolores Heights Remodel | San Francisco
The Lady Liberty remodel in San Francisco’s Dolores Heights neighborhood brings modern luxury to a historic 4-story building first developed in the 1860s. FORMA Construction took on the unique challenges of this steep hillside site, creating a seamless blend of historic charm and modern functionality. The property includes two separate entrances on the south side: one from Church Street for three rental units and another from the top of Liberty Street for the owner’s expansive 3,800-square-foot residence.
FORMA’s work on the Dolores Height Residence included a transformative remodel of the attic space, which came with steep roof angles and dormer additions. The team restructured the building’s framing to convert this attic into a fully livable area, adding two bedrooms and living space. To optimize the home’s layout and enhance functionality, FORMA fortified the structure’s overhangs and integrated custom bench seating and bathrooms, designed by Red Dot Studio, within these alcoves.
In addition to the attic transformation, FORMA undertook a complete renovation of the kitchen, living, and dining areas, modernizing these spaces while preserving the building’s historic character. High-end finishes, innovative design solutions, and attention to detail define every corner of this home, with the kitchen standing out as a central gathering place, fully updated with contemporary amenities.
Throughout the project, FORMA’s expertise and careful planning brought new life to this historic property, ensuring it met the needs of modern living while respecting its original architectural features. This home renovation not only revitalized an iconic building but also set a high standard for luxury residential construction on challenging San Francisco sites. This project highlights FORMA Construction’s dedication to quality, innovation, and the seamless integration of past and present construction and design.
