Team Member Spotlight: Ryan Lewis, Superintendent at FORMA

Some builders learn the trade. Ryan Lewis grew up inside it.

Raised in Newcastle, California, between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, Ryan spent his childhood around job sites alongside his father, a general contractor. That early exposure shaped what he looks for in the work today, not just a trade, but a craft. “I love the challenge and beauty of these architect-driven projects,” Ryan says, “and I want to build the most incredible works of art that flow with the natural landscape.”

Ryan has been a superintendent at FORMA for three months and is currently based in Novato while he runs the job on the Sea Cliff project. As superintendent, he owns every on-site aspect of the build, holding the details together from start to finish. Ask him about the FORMA vibe and the answer comes fast: “Confident, and high performance. This resonates deeply with me.”

That resonance shows up most in how he talks about the team. Of everything FORMA has offered him, it’s the people who stand out. “I’ve dreamed of being part of a high-level group to build and grow with,” Ryan says, and he’s found FORMA’s team and support system unlike anywhere else he’s worked.

Outside the jobsite, Ryan trades blueprints for trailheads. He’s most at home outdoors, hiking, climbing, and exploring, with travel high on the list whenever he can get away. His favorite trip so far took him to the Costa Brava in Spain, just north of Barcelona. Closer to home, he finds inspiration in South Marin, drawn to its harsh, extreme slopes and aggressive Brutalist-style homes. And for something his coworkers might not expect: Ryan sews and crochets, and does both quite well!

At FORMA, Ryan brings a builder’s upbringing, an eye trained on architectural craft, and a superintendent’s instinct for holding a job together on-site.
