Bill Gocke came to construction for a practical reason. As a young father, he saw building as a way to support his family.

However, it quickly became more than that. “I quickly developed an internal passion for building,” Bill says. As a result, he kept learning and worked his way into management. That passion has since carried him through more than 35 years in the industry, 30 of them as a project superintendent.

Although Bill grew up in San Jose and is a new hire at FORMA, he already has a clear sense of the culture. For example, he describes the FORMA vibe as one of motivation, growth, encouragement, and self-responsibility, and he points to the team first. “The more I work side by side with other team members, the more I feel that everyone is proud to be part of this organization.” Likewise, he says what makes FORMA different is the kindness and respect team members show one another, a direct reflection of its non-competitive atmosphere. Moreover, the project he’s managing is already a favorite: “the type of project that takes a high level of skill to facilitate.”

Above all, the part of FORMA’s mission that speaks to him most is its commitment to growth “through the continual development of people and processes.” “If you are willing to put in the work to become the best you can be, you can,” Bill says. “You will grow with the company and its processes.” Considering that he started out building to support a family and worked his way up to running jobsites for three decades, it reads as experience, not a slogan.

Outside of work, Bill has always been into physical fitness and the outdoors, especially snowboarding and mountain biking. In fact, he once spent almost six months traveling through Europe on a winter snowboarding trip. When the group went looking for sun, he ended up on the Italian island of Capri, which is still his favorite place he’s ever been. Back home, he heads to the beach or the mountains to reflect and center himself. Music is the other constant. For instance, Bill loves karaoke nights, where he sings rock, alternative rock, and country. Finally, something his coworkers might not know is that he and his wife are both musicians.

In short, Bill brings 35 years of building, 30 years as a superintendent, and a firm belief that anyone willing to put in the work can grow.
