Bay Area Revival
Interior Designer Kari McIntosh and FORMA Construction transformed this Spanish Colonial home in the San Francisco Peninsula back to its multicultural roots. Originally built in 1992, the home had good bones, but the interiors were unremarkable and lacked “soul.” A series of recent haphazard remodels felt heavy-handed and outdated. The client’s primary goal was to create a more Spanish/Mediterranean-style home that reflected this history through a thoughtful Bay Area home remodel.
In addition to an interior remodel, which included updates to the kitchen, bathroom, entry, and living spaces, FORMA collaborated with the interior designer to make additional updates to the home. They carefully preserved original features like the stucco exterior and Spanish clay tile roof, restoring the exterior to seamlessly blend with the neighborhood. As part of this Bay Area home remodel, they constructed a small shed on-site to house a 400-amp service upgrade for multiple Tesla usage, freeing up space in the garage. FORMA also installed a new copper roof and gutters on the shed, designed to blend in and develop a natural patina over time.
